When Earthquake happens

① Take cover under a sturdy table – Be careful of falling objects
② Wait for the tremors to stop, and immediately turn off gas appliances and use the circuit breaker to turn off your electricity – Prevent fires in the aftermath of an earthquake
③ Keep the doors, etc. open – You may not be able to evacuate if the door is distorted.
④ Do not run to the outside of the building – Dangerous objects such as glass and signs may fall

① Be aware of glass or signs that may fall and protect your head with your bag or whatever you can find
② Be aware of vending machines or block walls that may fall
③ Do not use the elevators in the buildings – They may stop and trap you.
④ Stay calm and follow the advice of the staff when you are on transportation such as trains or in facilities such as movie theaters. – Be careful not to panic
⑤ Do not evacuate by car. If you are driving when an earthquake occurs, pull over to the left side of the road and evacuate on foot, leaving the key behind.

We never know when or where an earthquake or tsunami will strike. In order to know the occurrence as soon as possible and to take action to protect yourself, the Meteorological Bureau issues warnings: “Earthquake Early Warning” when strong shaking caused by an earthquake is expected, “Tsunami Warning” when a disaster caused by tsunami is expected, and so on. Such warnings are also delivered via the “Area Mail (emergency alert email),” which is an emergency email sent to people in the specific area. When you see or hear these warnings, please take appropriate action to protect yourself with quick decision.
