The Tokushima Castle Museum

The Tokushima Castle Museum collects, preserves, and displays items related to the Tokushima-han (feudal domain) and the Hachisuka Family. The museum, a shoin-zukuri (traditional style of Japanese residential architecture) style building, is located at the original site of the Tokushima Castle, where the feudal lord of Tokushima ruled during the Edo Period.
Inside the museum is a detailed, restored model of the old Tokushima Castle Palace, as well as historical items/displays from when HACHISUKA Iemasa first entered the Awa country until the time the feudal clan was abolished. Art exhibits related to the Hachisuka Family and Awa Domain are on permanent display in the museum, and there are also special seasonal and annual exhibits that are held, so you can truly take in the importance of several valuable cultural assets related to the history of the area.

Omotegoten Garden

In addition to the exhibits, the Omotegoten Garden (Old Tokushima Castle gardens) can be found next to the museum. The garden serves as a spot for strolling and is designated as a national scenic spot. You can also enjoy the view of the gardens from inside of the museum lobby.
