How to dispose of lighters, spray-cans and gas canisters
These items might cause fire in garbage collection cars. Please make sure to empty, puncture, and dent the item or mark the opened hole before putting them out. Additionally, when disposing of these items, discard each item in specifically separated garbage bags (bag with only lighters, bag with only spray cans/gas canisters) and don’t mix these items in bags with other non-burnable garbage. (Please note you can only dispose of up to 5 lighters at once.)
When disposing of (Non-separated) burnable garbage, Non-burnable garbage, Plastic mark, and Cans, glass bottles, and PET (plastic) bottles, please use a transparent or semi-transparent 45 liter plastic bag.
- Plastic bags must be clear enough to allow the inside items to be seen clearly. (If the contents cannot be viewed through the garbage bag, then that bag will not be collected.)
- As long as it is a transparent or semi-transparent plastic bag, the color and brand don’t matter.
- Bags must be 45 liters or less.
- Bags are available at supermarkets, grocery stores, and so on. (Plastic shopping bags from supermarkets etc. can be used as long as they are transparent.)
- Food scraps and wastes which you don’t want people to see, can be wrapped in paper or placed in a small non-transparent bag, and then contained together in a transparent bag.
- Please do not double-bag in disposing of plastic mark garbage and cans, glass bottles, and PET (plastic) bottles.
- Please dispose of 5 or less garbage bags at a time (including bags with grass/weeds or wood).
- Trash that is not properly separated or that is taken out on the wrong day will not be collected.
- Neighborhood associations and children’s groups sometimes collect recyclable items, such as newspaper and magazines. Please take advantage of these opportunities!
- Please return returnable bottles such as beer bottles, milk bottles, and 1800cc-sized bottles for alcohol or vinegar, to the store where they were purchased whenever possible
