Before and After Receiving the COVID-19 Vaccine

最終更新日:2021年8月3日

NOTICE: Due to a national shortage of COVID-19 vaccinations, even if you receive your vaccination ticket, you may not be able to make a reservation to receive a vaccine.

Things to Keep in Mind Before Receiving the COVID-19 Vaccine

Clothing

Should I wear clothing that makes my arm easily accessible?
As you will receive the vaccine shot in the upper part of your arm (near your shoulders), we ask that you wear a short sleeved shirt or tank top at the vaccination location.
(There will not be a space to change your clothes at mass vaccination sites.)
Please wear your mask at all times.

What to Bring to the Vaccination Site

1. Your Vaccination Ticket

Your ticket is located inside the green envelope that was sent to you. Please bring the paper with your tickets on it untorn/unseparated.
In the case you lose your vaccine ticket, please complete an application for Covid-19 Vaccine Ticket (Re)Issuement to have your ticket redistributed to you.

2. Your Completed Prevaccination Screening Questionnaire

Your questionnaire is located inside the green envelope that was sent to you. Please fill out the questionnaire before you come to your vaccination site.

  • Please bring a completed, Japanese version of the questionnaire

3. Personal Identification

Driver’s license, insurance card, residence card, etc.

4. Health/Medicine Handbook (お薬手帳)

Please bring your handbook if you have one.

Health Condition at the Time of Vaccination

For those who are currently recovering from a sickness/illness, those who have allergies or a underlying medical condition, those who became ill after receiving a past vaccine, or those who have worries concerning receiving the COVID-19 vaccine (etc.), please contact your medical doctor ahead of time before receiving the vaccine.

(Note) Those who have had severe allergic reactions (including anaphylaxis) or those who have felt ill or fainted when receiving a vaccine in the past should wait at least 30min before leaving.

Side Effects that May Appear Soon After Receiving the Vaccine

  • A reaction including lightheadedness that can occur in anyone, and is usually alleviated naturally by lying down and resting.

Rare: Acute allergic reactions (anaphylaxis)

About the Relief System for Injury to Health with Vaccination

(Information directly from the MHLW website)
"Vaccinations can cause health problems (illness or disability). Although this is extremely rare, the risk cannot be eliminated, and a relief system has been established for this reason.
In the case you develop health problems from a vaccine shot, must be treated at a medical facility in order to try and treat the illness, and develop a disability (as you could not be fully cured/healed), you can receive relief aid (medical expenses, disability pension benefits, etc.) based on the Japanese Immunization Act."
In the case of health damage as a result of the vaccine from the COVID-19 vaccine, relief aid is also available under the Immunization Act.
